Bought the half case of this to start with just to try it out. I was hoping originally for brass case to be in stock but I figured I’ll give this stuff a try out. It performed better than I expected, no failures on any round I put through my z5p. Gucci looks aside, I’m liking the performance of the steel case ammo.

Ran in a competition with this, shot great, no malfunctions and accurate. The black cases are great conversation starters to boot!

Worked flawlessly on my CZ. When examining the spent casing I noticed something interesting. There are two rings of bevel near the case head that significantly increase the steel material thickness there. This is in contrast to Tula/Wolf steel case where there’s no discernible change in case thickness up/down along the case wall. I believe this is a good design from ZQI that would reduce the chance of case head separation, as well as reducing the case bulging when fired from an unsupported chamber (older Glocks, for example). The cost of this design is a slight reduction of case capacity, which isn’t a problem for range ammo.

I had high hopes for this brand, being it was fairly inexpensive; but it fail over and over again on my Kriss Vector SBR 9mm. I used brass 9mm indoors without any issues a few days ago; so I know it isn’t the SBR. Once I took this to an outdoor range, it was nothing but trouble. It would recycle, or fire, and jammed when it did. Useless!
If you are using it for a 9mm pistol or SBR like me, pay a little more money and get better quality. Otherwise, you’ll be left like me having 400 rounds left and not being able to use it.
I haven’t try it on my 9mm handgun, so it may not be a total waste of money for me. Time will tell. In the meantime, I will never buy from ZQI or their products again.
As we mentioned before, please send us an email to [email protected] if you’d like to arrange to send a couple of boxes back to us for inspection and testing. Your concern about our steel case ammunition is the first that we’ve received, and we’ve sold millions of 9mm steel case cartridges over the last year. We regularly have customers email us to say that they liked the ammunition so much, that they purchased another case.
We do not claim that this ammunition works in KRISS firearms, and in fact, your firearm manufacturer notes that it should not be used. We would always refer to the firearm manufacturer for their recommended type of ammunition, and you are ignoring their guidance, and then blaming the ammunition. A link to the manufacturer’s recommended ammunition list is included here: https://kriss-usa.com/support/compatible-ammunition/
Stating that this ammunition does not work in SBRs or pistols is not true, and it’s misleading. In fact we’ve extensively tested this ammunition in popular handguns such as Glocks, S&Ws, Berettas, Sig Sauers, as well as our full auto Z-5RS and Z-5P submachine guns that we use for product demos. Even if you do not want to send any of the ammunition to us for testing, we will ask again that you try it in a different firearm platform than your KRISS model before passing judgement and leaving an inaccurate review.

Have run this ammo in multiple weapons, pistols, PCC’s, etc. All ran 100%. This ammo is great! Accurate, and reliable! The black case is also a great feature! Will be back for more! Thank you ZQI!

ZQI black steel case ammo worked well in all of my 9mm handguns. S&W M&P full size, Glock 19 and Glock 26. No misfires. Feed and eject were flawless as well. I’d recommend this ammo no problem and will buy more in the future.

Meh it works. Put 450 rounds of it through a smith and wesson sd9 and have had some failures to eject. Shot 100 rounds today and had 5 malfunctions. Price point is great if your firearm can run it
